Medical Archivist

CMME is currently seeking a medical archivist to join our team. Reporting to the Director of Operations and supported by an experienced and dynamic management team, you'll have the opportunity to grow in a rapidly expanding company making a concrete impact on our Quebec public health system.


The medical archivist plays a crucial role in managing and transmitting medical records. We're looking for an organized and conscientious individual to facilitate the filing and secure sharing of sensitive information, directly contributing to healthcare improvement. Under the supervision of the Director of Operations, this person will be responsible for, among other things, applying current laws and regulations to ensure the proper handling of patient medical records within the network.


Full-time, 35-40 hours/week; Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm; hybrid work location.

Required Profile

  • Hold a College Diploma (DEC) in Medical Archives Techniques or a diploma as a Medical Archivist from a school recognized by the Ministère de l’Éducation, du Loisir et du Sport OR a diploma recognized by the Association québécoise des archivistes médicales or the Collège des archivistes médicaux du Canada (Association des archivistes médicales du Canada).

  • Experience in a dental, medical, or similar environment.

  • Strong communication skills.

  • Experience with electronic medical records, preferably with MYLE (an asset).

  • Proficiency in French and English (Mandatory).

Main Duties

  • Manage and process requests for copies of records within a 30-day timeframe.

  • Ensure proper and efficient electronic classification of various medical documents received in both paper and electronic formats.

  • Assist in developing and implementing innovative solutions to enhance the efficiency and security of departmental operations.

  • Select documents for disclosure to the requester.

  • Provide necessary assistance to various requesters when required.

  • Liaise with the finance department for billing document requests to insurance companies and other organizations.

  • Manage requests from healthcare professionals and staff related to access to medical records.

  • Ensure the protection and confidentiality of medical records in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

  • Promote the protection of personal information within the organization.
